Matt Gurney: "And it’s something that vicious thugs and dictators around the world can’t afford to ignore. For too long, too many have operated outside laws, both international and moral, because they have understood that the people of the West are too distracted by their daily lives to care much about the fate of a small ethnic group or religious minority in some obscure corner of the Third World. Our lack of interest has been their greatest weapon. Anything that changes that dynamic, and marshals the faddish whims of a public generally uninterested in geopolitics behind a campaign that would see the world’s warlords and despots fearing for their lives, could prove profoundly transformative for global affairs. It’s time the worst of humanity fear the West’s popular whims rather than bank on its apathy. The Kony 2012 video is a step in the right direction."
